Flag Football

Ready to feel the rush of being on the football field under the lights? Flag Football may be for you! Flag Football is a non-contact sport that teaches athletes about the fundamentals and techniques that are found in every version of football. It is one of the most popular sports in Special Olympics. Although no experience is necessary, basic skills are required to play flag football. Get ready to huddle up and have some fun!!

Training Times & Locations:

Mondays, 6:00pm-7:30pm, Centennial Park West, Field 7
Saturdays, 1:00pm-2:30pm, Homewood School Ellicott City OR
League Play, 4:00pm-10:00pm, Troy Park, Elkridge

Practice Overview:

Monday: Athletes will run drills.
Saturdays: League play where athletes play games against other Special Olympics County programs.

Requirements:

  • Try outs required for all new players.
  • Athletes must be at least age 16 at the start of the season.
  • Athletes must commit to participating in competition.

Equipment:

  • Footballs and Flags provided.
  • Athletes must bring mouth guards.
  • Athletes must bring sunscreen and water.

Uniforms:

  • Jerseys and shorts provided for competition.
  • Athletes must bring mouth guards.

Competition:

  • League Play on certain Saturdays at Troy Park in Elkridge.
  • Mandatory qualifier held at Troy Park in Elkridge.
  • State Games (FallFest) end of October.

Volunteer Roles:

  • Unified partners can compete on the team with athletes at practices, league play and qualifiers.
  • Volunteers needed to run drills at practice, keep score at league play, help referee games
