Cheerleading, Poms and Hip Hop Dance

Athletes can join either the traditional cheerleading group, poms group or the hip hop dance team.

Training Times & Locations:

Hip Hop Dance – Tuesdays, Group 1: 6:00pm-7:15pm; Group 2: 7:30pm-8:45pm, Cedar Lane School

Cheerleading – Mondays and Thursdays, 7:30pm-8:45pm, Cedar Lane School

Poms – Thursdays, 6:00pm-7:15pm, Cedar Lane School

Cheer/Dance Skills – Mondays, 6:30pm-7:15pm, Cedar Lane School

Practice Overview:

Athletes practice with their group, either cheer, poms or dance.
Athletes learn dance and cheer routines.
Athletes in the Cheer/Dance Skills group will not participate in competition.  This group is meant to help athletes gain the skills to compete independently and at a level needed for competition.  Athletes will learn different cheerleading and dance moves like high kicks, squats, high V, low V, etc.

Requirements:

  • Athletes of all abilities are welcome.
  • Participation in qualifies and competition is required (except for skills group).
  • Athletes must be able to compete independently (except for skills group).

Equipment:

  • SOHO will provide any equipment needed.

Uniforms:

  • Uniforms will be provided for all athletes.  Uniforms must be returned at the end of the season.

Competition

  • Athletes participate in qualifiers during the season.
  • State competition is held in June at Towson University.

Volunteer Roles:

  • Volunteers work with coaches to help athletes learn dance routines.
